Are You A Bug Hunter?
Over the years, Capt. Hook’s Marathon has planned for the crowds, adjusted our staff, tweaked our product lines and prepared ourselves for a lot of activity for the Florida’s Lobster Mini-Season. It is always on the last Wednesday and Thursday of July and his year it is July 24 and 25. Then, one of our shirt vendors, John Snow from Hooked Nation/Hooked Carpe Diem, came to us and suggested that we should have a Lobster Showdown Tournament to add to the festivities of the mini-season. So, we did! John is our co-sponsor and does all of the weigh-ins for the tournament. Last year, we went out and got tremendous support from our local vendors and restaurants to add to prize list and build the raffle for Mission 22, the charity we selected for the tournament. This will be the 4th annual tournament coming up! The tournament is FREE. Yup, FREE!! We will have more on the rules in here, as we get closer but we give out prizes for the big bugs but we also give prizes to everyone that weighs in a lobster over the two-day mini-season.
