Capt. Hook’s NAUI VA Program

Use Your Benefits to Take These NAUI VA Courses

Today, you can use your G.I. Bill® to pay for SCUBA courses. We offer several NAUI VA courses and we are adding more. Our NAUI instructors can train you starting with Basic Level Open Water Diver all the way to Instructor level now. If you are already a diver and want to enhance your skills, and who wouldn’t, this is the perfect opportunity for that. If you wish to pursue a career in diving, we can get you there as well. Let’s take a look at the courses available to you.

Getting Started

Use these steps to get you started.

Step 1:

Learn about G.I. Bill® eligibility requirements and find out if you can get these benefits. VA education benefits can help you pay your tuition, pick out a school, choose a career, and more. If you’re an active-duty service member or Veteran, a member of the National Guard or Reserves, or a qualified survivor or dependent, find out if you can get VA education benefits through the G.I. Bill® and other educational assistance programs.

Step 2:

Apply for your G.I. Bill® benefits.

How to apply for the G.I. Bill® and related benefits go to the VA website at: https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/ and follow the directions.

If you have already applied for your benefits and just need to find out how many months of benefits you have left, please go to the VA website at: https://www.va.gov/education/gi-bill/post-9-11/ch-33-benefit/. and follow the steps on how to check your benefits.

Step 3:

We are a NAUI Approved VA Testing Center. You can select the course you are interested in by clicking on the “Book Now” button under that course to learn more about the course and start your booking (see above). Questions? Call (305) 872-9863 for Big Pine Key, (305) 296-3823 for Key West, and (305) 743-2444 for Marathon to speak with our friendly staff to help you through the process. Be sure to bring in your VA statement of benefits you printed in Step 2 to us when you come in for your training with us. Let’s make you a diver or start a new career!

Step 4:

Upon completion of all exams. The NAUI VA testing center will give you three documents and a presentation so you can submit for your VA reimbursement. (all reimbursements from the VA are first come first serve but it is taking about 30 to 60 days to receive your reimbursement from the VA).

Capt. Hook’s NAUI DOD SkillBridge Program

DOD SkillBridge is an opportunity for active duty military members getting ready to separate or retire to enter corporations or small business sponsored by the military.

Capt. Hook’s with association of NAUI are using the DOD SkillBridge Program to help prepare and develop military personnel about to retire and enter the civilian workforce to become members of the dive industry.  We have established a curriculum to take an inexperienced or novice diver all the way through professional level with more in-depth training in all aspects of the operating a dive shop. In some instances, we have hired these candidates to fulfill positions within Capt. Hook’s.

If you are considering retirement from the military and are interested in scuba diving and the dive business, please give us a call and talk to our Course Director, Frank at 305-872-9863.

If you would like to review more information about this program, you can go to the NAUI Armed Forces page, https://www.naui.org/certifications/armed-forces/service-members/ to get more details.  If you would like us at Capt.
