Getting Started

Use these steps to get you started.

Step 1:

Learn about G.I. Bill® eligibility requirements and find out if you can get these benefits. VA education benefits can help you pay your tuition, pick out a school, choose a career, and more. If you’re an active-duty service member or Veteran, a member of the National Guard or Reserves, or a qualified survivor or dependent, find out if you can get VA education benefits through the G.I. Bill® and other educational assistance programs.

Step 2:

Apply for your G.I. Bill® benefits.

How to apply for the G.I. Bill® and related benefits go to the VA website at: https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/ and follow the directions.

If you have already applied for your benefits and just need to find out how many months of benefits you have left, please go to the VA website at: https://www.va.gov/education/gi-bill/post-9-11/ch-33-benefit/. and follow the steps on how to check your benefits.

Step 3:

We are a NAUI Approved VA Testing Center. You can select the course you are interested in by clicking on the “Book Now” button under that course to learn more about the course and start your booking (see above). Questions? Call (305) 872-9863 for Big Pine Key, (305) 296-3823 for Key West, and (305) 743-2444 for Marathon to speak with our friendly staff to help you through the process. Be sure to bring in your VA statement of benefits you printed in Step 2 to us when you come in for your training with us. Let’s make you a diver or start a new career!

Step 4:

Upon completion of all exams. The NAUI VA testing center will give you three documents and a presentation so you can submit for your VA reimbursement. (all reimbursements from the VA are first come first serve but it is taking about 30 to 60 days to receive your reimbursement from the VA).

Capt. Hook’s DOD SkillBridge LOcation

DOD SkillBridge is an opportunity for active duty military members getting ready to separate or retire to enter corporations or small business sponsored by the military. If this is a possibility for you, click here is the DOD SkillBridge website for more information to get involved with the program.

We are looking at this program to help prepare and develop about-to-retire military personnel to become members of the dive industry.  We have established a curriculum to take an inexperienced or novice diver all the way through professional level with more in-depth training in all aspects of the operating a dive shop.

Our goal, to use a baseball analogy, is to develop a great farm club to hire these retired military candidates full-time for our growing dive business or to provide enough background for these candidates to start in the dive business in the area of their choice.

If you are considering retirement from the military and are interested in scuba diving and the dive business, please give us a call.
